In the weeks ahead, many of the social restrictions Canadians currently face are going to be lifted. With this re-opening will come economic activity and non-essential businesses being allowed to get going again.
Living in a post-COVID-19 world, it’s going to be a very different way of doing business. Some COVID-19 supplies are going to be deemed essential to allowing your employees to work protected and safe, while also prioritizing the safety of your customers.
Though every business is understandably different, here’s a short list of some basic supplies a business owner will want to have on-hand. Protect your employees. Reduce COVID-19 spread. Prioritize safety.
Face masks do not prevent someone from catching the coronavirus but they do prevent an asymptomatic person from spreading COVID-19. Providing employees with disposable face masks, it greatly minimizes the risks of unknowingly spreading this virus from person-to-person. An alternative to face masks are face shields if you consider reusable shields to be more effective than masks.
Non-Contact Digital Thermometer
If someone’s coming into work with a fever, they shouldn’t be allowed to work their shift. Coronavirus presents with many symptoms, fever being one of them. Any time someone enters your workplace, take their temperature with a non-contact digital thermometer. It’s easy to do and it’s another way to reassure your employees that they aren’t entering into an environment where there’s a high risk of COVID-19 transmission.
Dish Soap, Disinfectant Wipes, or Cloth Wipes
Upon entering or exiting your workplace, it makes sense to encourage everyone to use a disinfectant wipe or to wash their hands with dish soap and water. Ensure that this is happening. Along with social distancing, this will be your best bet at guarding against an outbreak. If a workplace experiences an outbreak and they have to shut down, that costs time, money, sometimes relationships, and also profitability.
There are nitrile, latex, and vinyl disposable gloves to choose from. Some workplaces may take things further with protective propylene coveralls. You don’t have to do that per se but gloves certainly are a worthwhile investment. If there is an asymptomatic employee, this is another strategy to prevent the transfer of germs, bacteria, and viruses from them to the customer or product.
These are the basic COVID-19 supplies to get your hands on. There are so many strategies and policies that can be used to guard against the spread of the coronavirus in the workplace. Be smart. Stock up on the necessities. Do it with Living.ca.
